Happy February everyone!
This is one of the most anticipated times in the crafting world, after all the amazing new releases for 2017 are introduced! And the Scrapbook Circle February kit, “So This Happened“ has an unbelievable array of the newest products to choose from, including our focus for the week, the Dear Lizzy, American Crafts Flags. Diana created this striking layout with papers and embellishments that are used as boldly as her daughter’s close up photo!
Diana explained a bit of her process below:
“As I was working with the banners/flags I wanted to use them more more for banners not using the words. I decided to flip one over and remove the pop dot and place it on the other side and leave the wooden pieces to create a visually appealing frame of sorts.”
Next up is Jung’s page, a graphic lesson in opposites in color, pattern size and drawing the main focus off center. She describes her ideas below the full layout.
“I am not a big fan of thick elements on my scrapbook layouts; It can get bulky, and I like to fit as many pages as I can into my albums. The stick on the Dear Lizzy flags are pretty thick, so I decided to deconstruct the flags, and incorporate them onto my layout in a different way. I used them as little embellishments on my layouts. I think they add the perfect amount of flair and color to my layout, without added bulk!”
Diana’s page is so dramatic and magnified, it demands attention, using the flags to border the top of the page and subtlety dire but your eye downward.
Jung’s layout demonstrates the idea of thinking outside the box, using the product, not as is was intended…as she pulled the flags apart.
Thanks ladies for sharing your takes on different ways to use the flag embellishments! Want to share something too, post it on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook community page, Scrapbook Circle of Friends, and visit for more inspiration, challenges and sneak peeks into next month!!
