How to Find More Inspiration!

Hello! We are off a great start this new year here on the blog with some more fabulous inspiration for you! Whether you are a traditional scrapbooker or a card maker or more on the crafting / painting / pretty packaging side of things, we’ve got you covered. And we’ve already got a whole lot in the line up to keep you excited and motivated about creating beautiful crafty things all throughout 2017! So keep checking back, follow along on social media, and be sure to subscribe to the blog feed so you don’t miss anything!

Speaking of inspiration, people often ask me where I find my inspiration for all the different things I do and I think my best advice is that you can find inspiration everywhere, for any type of art, creating or decorating that you do. What I mean by that is you don’t have to only look at other scrapbook pages for scrapbook inspiration and homes designs for home decor inspiration, etc. Your inspiration can completely cross over and you can find ideas you see on a card or scrapbook page and translate those into your home decor, or you can take something you see on a painting or a pillow and use it as a starting point to create a scrapbook layout. See what I mean? And I think, in broadening our view like this, we actually find ourselves more inspired and excited about our own art.

For example, design team member, Kim has this gorgeous scrapbook page to share with us today and I am completely inspired by it… in many different ways. It definitely inspires me to make a scrapbook page myself and to keep on capturing beautiful photos and memories of my children. It also makes me want to get out my Silhouette and my watercolor paints right now to start playing and stretching myself artistically… even if I just make a bunch of die cuts and paint some pretty backgrounds that I can later use for any type of paper crafting. But then it also inspires me to try this color scheme in my home somewhere, maybe through art or pillows. I’ve got a lot of these neutrals and lighter colors in my house already and I love how the pop of bold bright fuchsia pink shakes things up. It’s such a nice, fresh, happy contrast to all the lighter shades and it might be exactly what I’m craving in my living room right now! I just might try it!

So don’t be afraid to let your inspirational boundaries or “rules” slide this year! I think about Pinterest and how fabulous it is to have everything so completely categorized and things tucked neatly into their appropriate folders. BUT, often times I find the best inspiration for a scrapbook page when I’m browsing through my home decor board and vice versa! It’s a pretty inspiring concept in and of itself and I’d love to extend you the same challenge…. go looking for inspiration for something specific in just the place you wouldn’t think to look and your creative mind starts spinning in a million wonderful ways! If you try it, I’d love to hear your experience and if you agree with me! Keep reading for Kim’s beautiful layout and details about how she created such a lovely page to share with us today!Hi there everyone, I’m here to share a project today using lots of color and chipboard from the Gather collection.  I wanted to get lots of color on my page to start with and then go from there.  There was really no plan with this one, but once I added a few things it started coming together!

I love how that extra layer of paint underneath your embellishments creates such a cool dimension.  I always have a stack of watercolor flowers on hand and used a few to layer over my watercolor layer.  It creates a fun and eye catching element to the page. The chipboard in Maggie’s collections always provide a grounding effect to my scrapbook pages and I used the large “capture” title piece here along with my florals for a simple clean look. Happy New Year and take care guys!

Happy Thursday!
